Fr. Aaron Writes :20th February 2022
Dear Friends,
It is lovely to be back with you from my post-Christmas break in the States. I feel well and truly recharged for the weeks and months ahead; I just need to get over the jet-lag which seems to linger on!
We are all very conscious of the need to pray for peace in Ukraine. It is troubling that war is a possibility on the edge of Europe. Let us pray for wisdom and concord among the leaders as they work towards pursuing a peaceful outcome.
Many thanks to Fr Alban who offered Mass during the week, and to Fr Ian for the weekends whilst I was away. I am sure you made Fr Alban welcome back to his ‘old turf’!
Apologies for some of the important notices having dropped off the newsletter whilst I was away. However, please take note of the first two notices below as these are very important meetings.
For those wishing to be baptised, received into the Church or confirmed as Catholics – there have been a number of people who approached me towards the end of last year and the beginning of this year to enquire about becoming a Catholic Christian. I would like to invite all those who have made enquires to an informal gathering this week in the Parish Hall on Monday 21st February at 7pm.
Parish Pastoral Council (PPC) - I am delighted that we are to have our first meeting of the Parish Pastoral Council. Our inaugural meeting takes place on Wednesday February 23rd at 7pm in the Parish Hall. This will be an opportunity for us to meet each other, share ideas and visions, and discuss a way forward.
Children’s Liturgy – it is my hope and wish that this restarts in the next few weeks. We are just awaiting the completion of Safeguarding training for the volunteers. Thank you for your patience.
Deanery Business – As many of you know, in addition to my duties in Horsham, I am also the Dean of Crawley. This means that I help co-ordinate the pastoral life of the Crawley Deanery parishes and have a special role in the wellbeing of my fellow clergy. As part of this role, I have to make visitations of the neighbouring parishes and meet with the clergy in order to submit a report to the Bishop. I will be carrying out these visitations over the next few weeks, so my availability in the parish office will be limited at times until I compete my task. Thank you for your understanding.
Half-Term – may I wish our parish schools, especially the staff, a blessed and peaceful break this week.
In Memoriam – Please pray for the souls of Brenda Farley RIP, Denis Walton RIP and Josie Aguilar RIP, also keep their families in your prayers as they mourn at this sad and testing time.
With my very best wishes and prayers for you all.
Fr Aaron
