Fr. Aaron Writes 24th April 2022
Dear Friends,
Alleluia! Alleluia! May I continue to wish all parishioners a very Happy Easter!
It was so wonderful to see such large numbers of you during the celebration of Holy Week. It was great to see so many returning faces,
too. Welcome back, we’ve missed you!
This weekend we celebrate Divine Mercy Sunday, where we reflect on the immense mercy of God and the gift of peace he gives to His
people.
As our Orthodox brothers and sisters celebrate Easter this weekend, we pray for peace and reconciliation between our Churches, and
also for peace and conversion of heart; a turning to the Prince of Peace in war-torn Ukraine, as well as in other places where the blight
of conflict and violence continues unabated.
Ukraine – We can continue to support our brothers and sisters by donating to CAFOD, which will help the sister charity CARITAS
UKRAINE and the UK Disasters Emergency Committee to help hundreds of thousands of people fleeing conflict in the country. To
find out more, please visit www.cafod.org.uk.
You can also help viaAid to the Church inNeed: www.acnuk.org and give to the Ukraine Emergency Appeal. Their website gives details
of how your generosity helps the local church in Ukraine.
Generosity - I would like to thank you for your Easter offering; I am, as always, deeply touched by your generosity.
Divine Mercy Sunday – I have been asked in my capacity as Dean to celebrate the Divine Mercy celebrations in Crawley at 3pm on
Sunday this weekend. There will be confessions and the praying of the Divine Mercy Chaplet. Do come and join me at the Friary on
Sunday afternoon.
The End of the Share Shop – Unfortunately, we have had to call time on the parish Share Shop. It had come to my attention that many
were taking advantage of the generosity of parishioners; people who were not in need of the goods were often taking all the items in
one go, leaving nothing for anyone else. Thank you to all of you who helped those who were genuinely in need, especially during the
pandemic.
In Memoriam: Our deepest sympathies and condolences go to those who have lost loved ones.
Please pray for the Repose of the Souls of: Fr Jude McHugo C.J. and Fr Anthony Hale C.P. – funeral details are to follow.
