Fr. Aaron Writes 1st May 2022
Dear Friends,
May we continue to live the joy of Easter as we never fail to proclaim that the Lord is Risen - He has risen indeed!
If you know of someone who hasn’t returned to regular worship, do encourage them to come back and experience the joy of the season of the Lord’s resurrection.
Ukraine – We can continue to support our brothers and sisters by donating to CAFOD, which will help the sister charity CARITAS UKRAINE and the UK Disasters Emergency Committee to help hundreds of thousands of people fleeing conflict in the country. To find out more, please visit
www.cafod.org.uk.
You can also help via Aid to the Church in Need:
www.acnuk.org and give to the Ukraine Emergency Appeal. Their website gives details of how your generosity helps the local church in Ukraine.
May Marian Procession – As we continue to reintroduce traditions after the pandemic, this Sunday there will be a Marian Procession led by the Filipino community, beginning at 11:15am. It will take place between the 10am and the 11:30am Masses. To ensure maximum participation, I would encourage those who come to the 10am Mass to join the Procession after Mass and those who attend the 11:30am Mass to arrive earlier. We will process behind a statue of Mary around the old Shelley Fountain to celebrate the beginning of the month of Mary.
Receiving Holy Communion – Please take special care when receiving Communion. The Sacred Host is being dropped too many times recently. If you receive in the hand please make a throne for the Lord, by placing one hand underneath the other and eat the Body of Christ without haste and reverently.
The End of the Share Shop – Unfortunately, we have had to call time on the parish Share Shop. It had come to my attention that many were taking advantage of the generosity of parishioners; people who were not in need of the goods were often taking all the items in one go, leaving nothing for anyone else. Thank you to all of you who helped those who were genuinely in need, especially during the pandemic.
First Holy Communion Parents’ Meeting – This will take place on Tuesday 3rd May at 7pm in the church.
First Holy Communion Programme Session 5 – This will take place in the church on Saturday 7th May at 2pm.
