Fr. Aaron Writes 8th May 2022
Dear Friends,
May we continue to live the joy of Easter as we never fail to proclaim that the Lord is Risen - He has risen indeed!
It is wonderful to see the numbers returning to ‘normal’ – it is great to see so many faces, especially those who have returned after having been away. May I continue to encourage those who haven’t returned to the community and the celebration of the Sacraments to do so – there is a warm welcome for you!
This weekend we celebrate Good Shepherd Sunday, where we pray especially for vocations to the priesthood. Please pray for those considering this call to service, especially from our parish. Do pray daily for our seminarians and for your pastors. Perhaps in this month of May we can offer a decade of the Holy Rosary a day for vocations.
Ukraine – We can continue to support our brothers and sisters by donating to CAFOD which will help the sister charity CARITAS UKRAINE. To find out more, please visit
www.cafod.org.uk.
You can also help via Aid to the Church in Need:
www.acnuk.org and give to the Ukraine Emergency Appeal. Their website gives details of how your generosity helps the local church in Ukraine.
Mass on Tuesday – will be at 9:30am, as Deacon Tom and I have a Deanery Meeting in Crawley.
PPC (Parish Pastoral Council) Sub-Committee on Formation – will meet on Monday 9th May at 7pm in Rooms 2/3 of the Parish Hall.
Full PPC Meeting - with
all members of the Parish Pastoral Council will meet on Monday June 6th at 7pm in the Parish Hall.
Allen Hall –
This Wednesday evening I will be going to Allen Hall seminary to visit the Arundel & Brighton students. I will pass on your best wishes, especially those who have been with us on placement.
Receiving Holy Communion – Please take special care when receiving Communion. The Sacred Host is being dropped too many times recently. If you receive in the hand please make a throne for the Lord, by placing one hand underneath the other and eat the Body of Christ without haste and reverently.
The End of the Share Shop – Unfortunately, we have had to call time on the parish Share Shop. It had come to my attention that many were taking advantage of the generosity of parishioners; people who were not in need of the goods were often taking all the items in one go, leaving nothing for anyone else. Thank you to all of you who helped those who were genuinely in need, especially during the pandemic.
