Fr. Aaron Writes 15th May 2022
Dear Friends,
May we continue to live the joy of Easter as we never fail to proclaim that the Lord is Risen - He has risen indeed!
Dean of Crawley – Last week, the Bishop rang to say I had been re-elected and appointed as Dean of Crawley for another term of office
which is three years. I am humbled by the vote of confidence of my fellow clergy. Please pray for me that I can exercise this role well
and with zeal in service of the local deanery.
Full PPC (Parish Pastoral Council) Meeting - with all members will meet on Monday June 13th at 7pm in the Hall. Please note the
change of date from 6th June, when, as Dean, I now have to attend an overnight with fellow deans at Ladywell Convent.
Pentecost Sunday – The Birthday of the Church – to mark this occasion there will be two shared meals. There will be a Shared Supper
in the Hall after the 6pm Vigil Mass on Saturday 4th June, and there will be a Shared Lunch after the 11:30am Mass on Sunday 5th June.
It will be a wonderful way for us to gather socially as a parish once again, to welcome new parishioners, and to celebrate the Descent
of the Holy Spirit. This will be the beginning of re-introducing our regular shared Sunday lunches.
Pentecost in Red – It would be wonderful if, when attending Mass on Pentecost Sunday, including the Vigil, you could wear the colour
red – the colour of the Holy Ghost! It would create a talking point!
Receiving Holy Communion – Please take special care when receiving Communion. The Sacred Host is being dropped too many times
recently. If you receive in the hand please make a throne for the Lord, by placing one hand underneath the other and eat the Body of
Christ without haste and reverently.
World Youth Day Lisbon 2023 – This is a gathering of all young Catholics with the Holy Father, due to take place from 1st – 6th August
2023 in Lisbon. I would like to get an idea of numbers from young people in our parish, aged 17 to 30, who would like to come with me
on this pilgrimage. Please email the Parish Office if you’re interested – horsham@abdiocese.org.uk.
The Parish Fayre - In response to the Stewardship drive during Lent, when we called for more volunteers in parish ministries, there will
be a Parish Fayre of Volunteers at a date to be announced in July. There will be manned stalls with information on how to join the
various ministries and volunteer roles in our parish.
Ukraine – We can continue to support our brothers and sisters by donating to CAFOD which will help the sister charity CARITAS
UKRAINE. To find out more, please visit www.cafod.org.uk. You can also help via Aid to the Church in Need: www.acnuk.org and give
to the Ukraine Emergency Appeal. Their website gives details of how your generosity helps the local church in Ukraine.
In Memoriam – Dean Bedggood RIP – Dean’s Requiem Mass will take place this week, on Wednesday 18th May at 10:30am. Please
pray for his family at this sad time. Please also pray for Hazel Ghavami RIP who died last week on Saturday. Keep her and her family
in your thoughts and prayers this week.
