Parish Knitting Continues to Warm Lives in Ukraine

Parishioners have been busy behind the scenes on a wonderful project,  knitting squares that are lovingly crocheted together into blankets destined for families in Ukraine.

The initiative began some years ago, inspired by a parish talk on the reception of refugees on the Greek island of Chios. When the reception there later closed, attention turned to the growing needs in Ukraine, and what started with a small group of knitters has since spread to involve many parishioners.

Each square is knitted individually before being carefully crocheted into full-size blankets by Helen, a parishioner from Billingshurst.

The blankets will be collected from Henfield in October by the charity Hope and Aid Direct, who will deliver them to communities in Ukraine.

Thank you to everyone who has taken part,  a simple act of knitting and stitching that is bringing real warmth and comfort to those who need it most.
