Pentecost Sunday
Looking ahead!
This weekend we celebrate the Great Feast of Pentecost – The descent of the Holy Spirit upon the followers of Jesus thus completing the Paschal Mystery of Christ. The Paschal candle is extinguished and moved to the font from which without exception all of us Baptised disciples having been filled with the Holy Spirit bring the message of Salvation & Hope and Peace & Joy to our world.
To end the Month for Mary on Trinity Sunday, there will be a Flores de Mayo (Flowers of May) procession where flowers are brought by children and others in procession to Mary. This will take place at the 11:15am Mass. I am liaising with Reynald Dioso and the Filipino Community.
On Sunday June 3rd, we will celebrate the Feast of Corpus Christi, there will be a Eucharistic Procession after both Morning Masses. We will need petals for procession – these will be collected before the Masses in baskets.
Looking further ahead, please put in your diaries, there will be a Parish Party held in thanksgiving for all those who are volunteers and help in our Parish. This will be a big thank you from me and the rest of the Parish to those who ‘keep the show on the road!’. This will be in the Hall after the Holy Day Mass of Peter and Paul on June 29th.
Many thanks to those who signed up to know more about helping with the Ministry of Welcome and Hospitality. The names continue to pour in – there will be an opportunity for us to gather and listen to some input from the Diocese on how to ‘beef up’ our welcoming ministry which we already so well. A date is provisionally set for Wednesday 27thJune at 7pm here at St John’s Church.
With my prayers.
