Attending a Special Symposium in Rome
attending a Special Symposium
I am writing to you from Rome where I am attending a Special Symposium which commemorates
three significant events: the bicentenary of the re-opening of the Venerable English College in Rome
in 1818, the 450th anniversary of the opening of the English College, Douai 1568 and the 900th
anniversary of the birth of St Thomas of Canterbury (1118 -1170).
The Symposium is titled Memory, Martyrs and Mission. It promises to be an interesting day!
I will hold you in my prayers in the Eternal City, where I will be, in addition to attending the symposium,
having a few days off.
This Tuesday is Lyn Murray’s Requiem Mass at 12:30pm, I am sure many of us will be there to pray
for Lyn and to support Deacon Tom and his family. May the choirs of angels come to greet her in
Paradise.
Please also pray for our Confirmation Candidates who will receive the Sacrament of Confirmation this
Friday evening at St John’s. We welcome Bishop Richard who will be celebrant.
Next Saturday and Sunday we see the resumption of our First Communion classes, a reminder to the
parents that there will be an obligatory parents meeting at 7pm in the Church on Monday 23rd of April.
With my prayers for you all this Eastertide.
