Live Simply Plan

Our vision is of a parish fully engaged with ‘Live Simply.’ 

In choosing to live a simpler life our parish is a community contributing to the protection of the world’s natural resources and showing our love and care for those who live in poverty.  

The Live Simply award helps us achieve this vision by focussing our hearts and minds on Live Simply values.

Live Simply, Live Sustainably, Live in Solidarity with the Poor

Live Simply

Main Item:  Creation Mass in October 2020

• Live simply section in parish weekly newsletter (from September 2019)
• Global Healing videos launched at Live Simply Quiz in November 2019 and available on the parish website from May 2020

We pledge to:

• Arrange speaker and discussion meetings for the whole parish to increase awareness of the Church’s teaching on the environment
• Talk to parish groups and schools about Live Simply
• Encourage parishioners and schools to make their own Live Simply pledges
• Work with other local churches on initiatives to combat Climate Change

Live Sustainably

We have:

• Live Simply tree planted in parish car park
• Hand Me Down stall held in March 2020
• Participated in the Climate Change Lobby of Parliament in June 2019
• Established ongoing communication with our MP on environmental and sustainability issues
• Created a green courtyard between the Church and Parish Hall
• Live Simply tips and information are published in the weekly parish newsletter
• Set up a plastics recycling scheme for crisp and biscuit packets
