Fr. Aaron Writes : 18th July 2021
Dear Friends,
Monday 19th July marks the beginning of Step 4 of the Government’s Covid-19 stage of the Route Map.
I will digest the document in the coming week and see how we can move forward with caution and careful consideration for all parishioners as the parish continues on the long and slow path to ‘normality’.
Any change in approach will be phased in cautiously and considerately; and according to the guidance of the Government and the Bishops’ Conference.
I will update you next week on social distancing and capacity of the church, on congregational singing and other items related to Acts of Worship at St John’s, including the celebration of the sacraments.
Final Week of School – Prayers go to all our schools as they celebrate their final week at school and prepare for a well-deserved break. I would also like to thank the staff and the governing bodies who have helped steer the school through these difficult months. I look forward to returning to some sense of normality when they return in September.
Sacraments – Please pray for all couples preparing to get married this summer and all those babies who are to be baptised, it is lovely to be able to baptise the babies, whose baptisms were postponed due to the restrictions.
Finance Meeting – The St John’s Parish Finance Committee are meeting on Monday 12th July at 7pm. If you would like to add something to the agenda, please email David Innes whose details can be found in the newsletter.
Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament – over the summer, this will not take place on Tuesdays. Please see the note in this week’s newsletter. I would like to thank all those involved in organising this wonderful opportunity for prayer, special thanks go to Marie-Blandine Ferrer who has played a big part is setting up this devotion. Marie-Blandine is returning to France with her family –Merci beaucoup pour tout ce que vouz avez fait pour nous! Benedictions a votre retour en France.
World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly – this will take place next week Sunday 25th July and we will be marking this day by praying for our grandparents and the elderly but the day will be marked with other activities.
