Fr. Aaron Writes 10th July 2022
Dear Friends,
Sunday Morning Mass Schedule – Last Sunday, we reverted back to two Masses at 9:15am and 11:15am. Children’s liturgy will now be celebrated during the 9:15am Mass and there will be refreshments after this Mass. Please fill up the church from the front and use all available spaces.
Car Park Courtesy – Aware of the issue of limited car parking on a Sunday between the two Sunday Masses, please could 9:15am Mass goers remove their cars from the car park after Mass, rather than leave them while they go shopping or attend another activity in town, as this blocks access and limits parking for the 11:15am Mass.
World Youth Day 2023 – Lisbon – I would like to invite anyone who is between 18 (or will be 18 in August 2023) and 35 to come to a quick meeting with me between Sunday Masses next weekend (17th July) in Rooms 2/3 of the Parish Hall, to discuss the World Youth Day next year. I will share with them my hopes for many young people from Horsham joining in this wonderful event.
First Holy Communion –The children will receive their certificates at any Sunday Mass they attend over this weekend. It is an opportunity for us as a parish to congratulate them.
The Sacrament of Confirmation – Congratulations to our young people who were confirmed last Sunday – what a wonderful celebration it was! There will be a celebratory Mass at the 6pm Vigil Mass on Saturday 16th July, when they will receive their certificates.
Parish Picnic – On Sunday 24th July, after the 11:15am Mass, we will go for a Parish Picnic in Horsham Park. All are welcome to join us from 12:30pm. Please bring your own games and food and drink.
Contactless Card Machine – This is now fixed to the wall between the notice board and St Anthony’s statue. You may make your cashless donations/offertory there on your way in or out.
Fr Christopher Morris – newly ordained for Motherwell Diocese, he will celebrate Mass for us this weekend and impart his first blessings.
Fr Martin Thompson – thanks everyone for their generosity in the second collection last week.
Canon Tony Churchill – will be staying with me in the Presbytery for a while from mid- August, as he retires and waits to move in to his retirement flat.
The Parish Fayre - There will be a Parish Fayre of Volunteers next weekend, on 16/17thJuly, after the Vigil and Sunday Masses, in the Parish Hall. Representatives from a whole range of groups will have stalls with information on how to join the various ministries and volunteer roles in our parish. Do pop in and see how you can help the parish!
Holy Matrimony – Please pray for Georgia Aguilar and Samuel Edwards who are to be married this Friday at St John’s at 12 Noon.
Be assured of my prayers and good wishes,
Fr Aaron
