Fr. Aaron Writes 17th July 2022
Dear Friends,
The Parish Fayre - There will be a Parish Fayre of Volunteer roles in the parish this weekend in the Hall. Representatives from a whole range of groups will have stalls with information on how to join the various ministries and volunteer roles in our parish.Do pop in after Mass and see how you can help the parish with your time and talent! Your parish community needs you!
Sunday Morning Mass Schedule – Two Sundays ago, we reverted back to two Masses at 9:15am and 11:15am. Children’s liturgy will now be celebrated during the 9:15am Mass and there will be refreshments available after this Mass. Please fill up the church from the front and use all available spaces.
Car Park Courtesy – Aware of the issue of limited car parking on a Sunday between the two Sunday Masses, please could 9:15am Mass goers remove their cars from the car park after Mass, rather than leave them while they go shopping or attend another activity in town, as this blocks access and limits parking for the 11:15am Mass.
St John’s School Leavers’ Mass – On Wednesday morning at 10am, the school will hold their end of term Mass in the Church. It will be very busy, so I would ask regular weekday Mass parishioners to be warned!
World Youth Day 2023 – Lisbon – I would like to invite anyone who is between 18 (or will be 18 in August 2023) and 35 to come to a quick meeting between Sunday Masses this weekend, in Rooms 2/3 of the Parish Hall, to discuss the World Youth Day next year. I will share with them my hopes for many young people from Horsham joining in this wonderful event.
First Holy Communion – Some children will receive their certificates at a Sunday Mass over this weekend. It is an opportunity for us as a parish to congratulate them.
The Sacrament of Confirmation – There will be a celebratory Mass for the newly confirmed at the 6pm Vigil Mass on Saturday 16th July, when they will receive their certificates.
Parish Picnic – Next week, on Sunday 24th July after the 11:15am Mass, we will go for a Parish Picnic in Horsham Park. All are welcome to join us from 12:30pm. Please bring your own games and food and drink.
Contactless Card Machine – This is now fixed to the wall between the notice board and St Anthony’s statue. You may make your cashless donations/offertory there on your way in or out.
Canon Tony Churchill – will be staying with me in the Presbytery for a while from mid- August, as he retires and waits to move in to his retirement flat.
Holy Matrimony – Congratulations to Georgia Taylor Aguilar and Samuel Edwards, who were married last Friday at St John’s.
Be assured of my prayers and good wishes,
Fr Aaron
