Fr. Aaron Writes 18th September 2022
Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II RIP
My friends, we continue to hold in our prayers the repose of the soul of Queen Elizabeth II as the country prepares for her funeral
tomorrow. The Catholic community of Horsham wish to convey our condolences and prayers to the Royal Family and we pray
especially for King Charles III and his subjects at this difficult time.
Thank you for your example of faith and dutiful service and may eternal light shine upon your Majesty.
May Queen Elizabeth rest in peace and rise in glory.
There will be an ecumenical service held at St Mary’s this weekend on Sunday at 3pm. All are welcome to join in this communal act
of remembrance.
Also, the funeral will be televised in the Parish Hall after Mass on Monday. You can find further information about this in the
Announcements.
Floods in Pakistan - There are many ways in which we can show our concern and support to our brothers and sisters in need. There
is a special notice regarding the awful floods in Pakistan in the newsletter, signposting readers to CAFOD’s website. Aid to the Church
in Need is also a wonderful charity that assists our brothers and sisters who are in need in that country and in many other places.
World Youth Day Lisbon 2023 – Details have come through of the costs and itinerary for World Youth Day next year. Please see the
separate notice in the newsletter. I would like to take a group from Horsham and start fundraising. If you would like to come, please
email me indicating your interest and also register your interest through the Diocesan website and/or book a place.
National Mass for Altar Servers – I am encouraging our Altar Servers to attend the National Mass for Altar Servers at Westminster
Cathedral on Saturday October 1st at 2:30pm. If Servers can make their own way there with their parents or carers, I shall meet them
there for the Mass. If you could email me to indicate that you are attending.
Parish Shared Supper and Shared Lunch in Honour of Francesco De Antonis – Please make a note in your diaries that there will be
a Shared Supper and a Shared Lunch in the Hall on the weekend of the 1st and 2nd October, after the Vigil Mass and the 11:15am Mass
respectively. The Shared Lunch on the Sunday will be a very special celebration, as the lunch will be held in honour of Francesco De
Antonis on the occasion of his 100th Birthday. I know many of us would like to celebrate with him this wonderful achievement!
With every prayer and good wish,
Fr Aaron
