Fr. Aaron Writes 19th February 2023
Fr Aaron writes…
This weekend we celebrate the last Sunday before the start of the Holy Season of Lent – where does the time fly? Let us
prayerfully prepare for the arrival of this season by thinking about ways in which we can grow in holiness and closeness
to Christ and in the service of our brothers and sisters.
Rite of Election - Two of our number will be attending the Rite of Election at Arundel Cathedral next Saturday: Jemma
Claydon and Richard Hurst. Please keep them in your prayers as they prepare to be received into the Church this Easter.
RCIA – Our new programme launches on Shrove Tuesday. Please pray for all involved, for the team who will lead and for
those who will be participating, as they explore the call to communion with the Catholic Church.
Ash Wednesday – marks the beginning of Lent. Masses will be at 10am, 12:15pm and 6pm.
Stations of the Cross – will take place on Fridays throughout Lent. There will be a celebration of the Way of the Cross at
11:15am and 7pm.
World Youth Day 2023 Lisbon – This wonderful event fast approaches! If you would like to come and have not indicated
this to me yet - do speak to me and also register with the Diocese! We will continue our fundraising for the participants
through various events.
Parish Pilgrimage to Assisi, Rome and Palazolla (late September/early October) – A number of parishioners have
already registered their interest with the Parish Office; if you would like to come, please do the same.
Wedding Anniversary - Congratulations to Robin and Margaret Sherfield as they celebrate their 60th Wedding
Anniversary this week. Be assured of our prayers as you reach this significant milestone in married life.
With every prayer and good wish.
Fr Aaron
