Fr. Aaron Writes 2nd July 2023
Dear Friends,
Deacon Tom – On Monday, the Feast of the Apostle Thomas, our dear Deacon Tom will celebrate his silver jubilee of
ordination. On behalf of the parish I thank Deacon Tom for his many years of dedicated service in the vineyard of the
Lord, both here in Horsham and in our Diocese. To me and to my predecessors he has been a constant and loyal friend
and colleague. As we pray that he will have many more years of service, we pray for him, his family and for Lyn’s eternal
repose of soul.
Alan Farley RIP – On Monday we will celebrate Alan’s Requiem Mass at 10am here at StJohn’s. We pray for his eternal
repose and for those who mourn his loss.
Children’s Parade – On Sunday 9th July, there will be the annual Horsham Children’s Parade that will pass in front of St
John’s at around the time of the 11:15am Mass. Please be aware of road closures that morning when you come to Mass.
World Day of Prayer for Grandparents and the Elderly – Please see the announcement in this week’s Newsletter
giving details of this very special occasion. I would warmly encourage all those older people who have helped us
throughout our lives to attend the event at Arundel Cathedral, together with their families and friends, on Saturday
22nd July at 2:30pm.
Saturday Evening Vigil Mass – Because of my many roles both in the Diocese and in various organisations elsewhere,
I often find at times of the year, I have to be away from the Parish on Saturdays. I am grateful to the many supply priests
who kindly assist me and I am grateful for your understanding. Over the next few weeks, I shall be absent on a few
Saturdays. Coming up, there will be the 150th Anniversary Celebrations at Arundel Cathedral, an Ordination in
Shrewsbury, and then later, in August, World Youth Day!
With every prayer and good wish for the coming week.
