Fr. Aaron Writes 25th June 2023
Dear Friends,
150th Anniversary Celebrations at Arundel Cathedral – At the end of this week we have two special celebrations
at our Mother Church in Arundel - Solemn Vespers on Friday and a Pontifical High Mass on Saturday. These events
are part ofthe year that commemorates 150 years since the completion of the church, which, since 1965, has been
the seat of the Bishop of Arundel & Brighton. It stands as a beacon of Faith and Hope, a place where God is
worshipped and the Sacrifice of Calvary, the wedding feast of the Lamb, is made present in the Holy Sacrifice of
the Mass. It stands as a place of communion with God and with one another, a place where the love of Christ is
proclaimed and from where charity and mercy are brought into our part of the world. Le us pray for our Bishop,
for the Diocese and for our own parish community as we all celebrate this momentous occasion.
Pastoral Plan – Please keep in mind our Deanery clergy who will gather in Crawley on Tuesday with the Bishop,
to discuss the ongoing and developing Pastoral Plan.
Solemnity of Ss Peter and Paul – There will be two Masses on Thursday June 29th, at 10am and at 7pm. It is a
Holy Day of Obligation.
Saturday Evening Vigil Mass – Because of my many roles both in the Diocese and in various organisations
elsewhere, I often find at times of the year that I have to be away from the Parish on Saturdays. I am grateful to
the many supply priests who kindly assist me and I am grateful for your understanding. Over the next few weeks,
I shall be absent on a few Saturdays.Coming up, there will be 150th Anniversary Celebrations at Arundel Cathedral,
an Ordination in Shrewsbury and then later, in August, World Youth Day!
With every prayer and good wish for the coming week.
