Fr. Aaron Writes 4th September 2022
Fr Aaron writes…
Welcome back to the full newsletter and a particularly warm welcome to any new parishioners who may have joined our parish recently; we hope to have a new parishioners welcome party sometime soon. I hope you have all enjoyed the summer weather and have had, or will have soon, some rest and recreation.
Fr Ian McDole
– We bade farewell to Fr Ian last week. Thank you to all who attended and prepared his leaving party. He was very touched by your presence, as were his parents. We wish him well as he takes up his new role in Eton.
Another Fr Ian! – We welcome Fr Ian Byrnes, formerly parish priest of Seaford, Newhaven and Peacehaven. He has retired to our parish. He will be celebrating the Sunday morning Masses here this weekend, as the Vicar General has asked me to celebrate Mass in Lewes to cover him.
World Youth Day Lisbon 2023 – Details are coming through of the costs and itinerary for World Youth Day. The event will take place between 31st July - 7th August 2023. I would like to take a group from Horsham and start fundraising. If you would like to come, please email me indicating your interest and also register your interest through the Diocesan website.
National Mass for Altar Servers – I am encouraging our Altar Servers to attend the National Mass for Altar Servers at Westminster Cathedral on Saturday October 1st at 2:30pm. If Servers can make their own way there with their parents or carers, I shall meet them there for the Mass.
Parish Shared Supper and Lunch – Please make a note in your diaries that there will be a Shared Supper and a Shared Lunch in the Hall on the weekend of the 1st and 2nd October, after the Vigil Mass and the 11:15am Mass respectively.
Full Parish Pastoral Council (PPC) Meeting – will take place on Monday 5th September at 7pm in the Hall. Any items to be raised can be sent to Sue in the Parish Office, via the parish email address
horsham@abdiocese.org.uk.
Visit of the Relics of St Bernadette - There is general information about the tour and about St. Bernadette herself via The Relic Tour website, which is now live at
www.stbernadette.org.uk/the-tour.
In this Diocese, the relics will be in Woking from the 21st to 22nd October, at the Cathedral from 22nd to 23rd October and at Worth Abbey from the 23rd to 24th October. These days will be marked by liturgical celebrations and opportunities for private prayer, modelled on the celebrations that take place in Lourdes.
And finally….
A new niece!
Over the summer holidays my sister gave birth to baby Rose-Angela. Thank you for your prayers and support for her and for the lovely cards and gifts.
