Fr Xavier Writes 24th September 2023
As I see it, a week has gone by and it was indeed my maiden attempt to make it so productive as regards getting to my feet slowly and steadily. From Saturday it got busy till Sunday afternoon with all the Masses. I felt that I was tired and got off to bed in the afternoon itself to get a nap, meaning that I missed getting to attend the other language Masses, though not celebrating myself, that went on in the afternoon. Hope to catch them up this week.
I do like and admire our parish church, the ambience with such a quiet and serene atmosphere to pray and celebrate Mass. The music and the choir make it so heavenly and I was floating in all Masses with your singing. I do appreciate all those who contribute - the sacristans, whole range of altar servers and volunteers.
On Tuesday, the Mass at St. Robert Southwell Primary School was indeed an experience for me with all the lovely children around, so very disciplined were they, with beautiful hymns and keen attention for the readings and liturgy. It was indeed a joyous celebration and I will cherish for my days to come. I wish the Head Teacher and all the staff, along with the students, a very fruitful year ahead.
Thanks so very much for all those who quickly responded to our request for a car, showing your support and caring for your new priest. I am taking time to see how I can proceed on this and look forward to your advice as to how it can be productive and useful.
Back at my home in Tamil Nadu, India, all feel happy that I am settling well and while it’s so hot over there I am already shivering at times with England’s weather. I do look forward to meeting you all in the weekday and weekend Masses and meetings. Wish you well for the forthcoming week.
