Deacon Tom Writes 5th February 2023
Racial Justice Sunday
All are included in the mission of Christ and His Church
Racial Justice Sunday is today 5th February. The theme above reflects on the role each of us must play in promoting the mission of Christ and His Church. This was inspired by conversations around last year’s Racial Justice Sunday and Pope Francis’ visit to Canada last year when he spoke about looking towards a future of ‘Justice, healing and reconciliation’.
To mark this day three video reflections have been produced highlighting Walking Together, Praying Together and Working Together. A supportive discussion paper has also been produced.
This year’s resources can be found on the Bishops’ Conference website at: www.cbew.org.uk/racial-justice-sunday
Please pray: God of our past, present and future, You created each one of usin your image and likeness. Help us to recognise You in each person as we pray for the end of racism.
Lead us this day to walk with one another, pray with one another and work together so that we can create a future based on justice and healing where all can fulfil the hope You have for all peoples
We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
In Memoriam
Please pray for the repose on the souls of twins Erin-May and Evie-Marie Taylor who died 11 years ago shortly after they were born and whose anniversaries occur around this time.
We remember also, Baby Harry Cousins and Baby Victhor Dosado who also died shortly after birth last year.
Eternal rest grant unto them O Lord, may your perpetual light shine on them.
May they rest in your peace. Amen
