Fr. Aaron Writes 15th January 2023
Church All Day Car Park – From this weekend, no parking will be allowed by Mass-goers in this car park nor at its entrance. For clarity, this is the car park opposite the exit to the main car park and next to Springfield House. A number of people have, at some cost, paid for the use of this car park and need 24 hour access. Increasingly, a number of those who pay to use this car park in the long term have been inconsiderately blocked in by parishioners who are attending Mass, especially the Vigil Mass on Saturdays. This has led to some tensions and heated conversations. To resolve this, I have decided that the All Day Car Park will not be open to anyone other than to those who have taken out the appropriate all-day contract parking agreement with the Parish. Would parishioners kindly make other provisions for parking if the main church car park is full. Thank you for your understanding.
Confirmation Enrolment Mass – This will take place at the Vigil Mass on Saturday. Please be aware that we have a considerable number of candidates who will be bringing their families and, so, this Mass will be much busier than usual.
First Holy Communion Programme – Session One takes place this Saturday afternoon between 12:30 and 1:30pm.
Restoration of the Offertory Procession at Holy Mass – From this weekend, the Offertory Procession of the gifts of bread and wine to be offered will return. The Welcomers at Mass may approach you to invite you to bring the Offertory to the altar - please generously respond.
RCIA – Initiation in the Catholic Faith – This Sunday we have an informal meeting with those who wish to form a new team to help guide those who find themselves wanting to be in full communion in the Catholic Church. The meeting will take place between the end of the 9:15am Mass and the beginning of the 11:15am Mass in Room 1 of the Hall. I really need parishioners who can help in different ways.
Coaching and help will be given.
World Youth Day 2023 Lisbon – As we move into the new year, this wonderful event fast approaches! If you would like to come and have not indicated this to me yet - do tell me! We will continue our fundraising for the participants.
Congratulations! - Please join me in sending warm congratulations, prayers and our very best wishes to Eileen Balchin, on the wonderful occasion of her 100th birthday this weekend.
In Memoriam – Please keep in your prayers those who have recently died and, especially, their families, who begin the New Year living with sadness and loss in the hearts.
We pray for the repose of the souls of Yvonne Frisby, Jim McNeil, Mary Richardso, Phill Moonan and Giuseppa Elia.
May they rest in peace and rise in glory.
With every prayer and good wish,
Fr Aaron
