Fr. Aaron Writes : 4th September 2021
Dear Friends,
Welcome Back!
September is the month in which we will, as a parish, see a true picture in terms of those who have returned to attending Holy Mass. I have already met many new parishioners over the past month or so, as people have moved into Horsham and the surrounding area – so if you are new, a huge welcome to our parish!
For those who are vulnerable or ill, the live-stream connects us with them in the celebration fo the Eucharist, and this will remain as a permanent feature available through our website.
First Communion Sessions – will begin on Saturday October 2nd, only those who have completed their first confessions as part of this year’s programme or previous years may attend.
Parish Schools – we pray for a good start to the academic year for all our schools. We pray for our Headteachers, the staff and students. A particular word of welcome goes to Finula Farr who begins her headship of St John’s School this term. Let us support her with our prayers as she begins this exciting new chapter in the life of the school.
Altar Servers – we welcome back all our servers from this week, returning thanks to the purchase of new cassocks and cottas through parishioners’ generosity. The servers are very grateful for you gift.
Restart – I really would like a number of parish activities and ministries to restart soon. I am also very happy to hear of new initiatives that could begin and be organised and run by parishioners.
These are a few areas in which we need to restart:
• Children’s Liturgy
• Liturgical Ministries
• Singing in a cantor group/ choir at Mass
• Social Activities like refreshments in the Hall after Mass.
• Visiting the Sick and Housebound
• Catechesis and Evangelisation
• Outreach to the Needy
• Establishing a Parish Pastoral Council
I hope you can consider your time, talent and treasure as we rebuild our parish community
Summer Leave – we welcome Fr Alban this week as I take part two of my summer break. I will not be checking my emails this week. Please direct any urgent issues to the parish office or Deacon Tom. Thank You
